The feasibility of using specialized sand for making mosaic of ready mixed mortar
Keywords:
dry-mix mortar, sand for making mosaic, compressive strength, mixtureAbstract
Studies show that mortar and concrete are used asthe main materials in more than 80% oftechnologies. Therefore, pay attention how toincrease workability and improve performancerequired of mortar and concrete. Mortar can bemade in numerous ways, but studies have shownthat the ready mixed mortar has many advantagescompared to others, but without quality control andproduction monitoring, the customer confidencewould be missed. The aim of this study is toinvestigate the possibility of using specialized sandin the factory for making mosaic mortar mix andcontrolling mortar properties. In this study, mortarspecimens were created by specialized sand formaking mosaic, and ordinary sand in differentratio of cement to sand. Also, specimens wereproduced by the ready mix mortar. The results ofthe compressive strength and water retention ofmortar, the comparisons of fracture specimens andscanning electron microscope (SEM) imagesshowed the possibility of using specialized sandmosaic in the production of dry mortar.Downloads
