In this paper, analysis of multilayer cylinders exposed to pressure and thermal loading is considered using a sector element based on the strain approach. Materials in cylinder layers have been assumed to be linearly elastic, homogeneous and isotropic. The sector in-plane finite element employed is defined in the polar coordinate system and has three degrees of freedom at each corner node (the two translations and the in-plane rotation). The results of displacement and stresses obtained in the present paper are compared with the analytical solutions and good accuracy of the present element is shown in the analysis of the present type of problems.Downloads
